Hi Ken,
The main reason for 'A' and 'B' outputs is that the CM108/CM119 sound chip
has stereo output: 'A' is the left channel, 'B' is the right.
As you mention, the usbradio channel driver does have the ability to send  
PL encode tone and/or voice to either channel, separately. It can also mix
tone and voice and send to either or both output channels.
Since both channels have separate output level adjustments, there are many 
possible applications.  Even more capabilities may be coming in the future.
