Hi Danny,

Good to hear from you! We've talked over on the 145.41 repeater via
echolink in Wilmington, NC.

Yes, the AllStar software will allow you to use a single computer, either
a full PC, a Raspberry Pi 2 (preferred) or Beaglebone Black to accomplish
AllStar connectivity and echolink, etc.

As for an HF remote base, I don't believe the TS-480HX implements an SSB
syllabic squelch signal??? For an SSB HF radio, you need some method of
generating a COS/COR (carrier operated switch) signaling if you wish to
use the HF rig with echolink (this is due to the echolink half-duplex
design)....With AllStar, which is full-duplex, the SSB COS/COR is
optional, but, still -very- desirable.

The TM-D710 radio will work fine as a simplex node on AllStar. Or, for
short range use, a pair of Baofeng BF-888 UHF radios can be used to make a
full-blown repeater---all hardware purchased new (including the RPi2,
power supplies, etc.) for under $100! (See the bottom of this page for my
first prototype: http://crompton.com/hamradio/baofeng888/ )...Note that
I've run these 888 transmitters at continuous duty cycle for HOURS at the
time with no issues--incredible for a radio in the $15 range!

See the http://hamvoip.org website for more details.
