Hi Sam,
I have never played with an Xcat interface board, but, it interfaces with
the control computer via the Icom C-IV serial protocol, right?? If that is
the case, I expect you could use multiple USB serial adapters and a USB
hub for the hardware interface with the BBB. Then, use the hamlib tools
(already installed in BBB firmware version 1.2.1 and later) as the
software interface to communicate with C-IV. Minimally, the hamlib tools
would provide you with a method to test the interfacing with the Xcat.
Then, once you know that works, experiment with Asterisk remote-base
control or, (preferably to me) setup DTMF macros to call hamlib and issue
commands.
Take a look at the "/usr/local/bin/rigctl" command, etc.
