I should also correct my typo in my message text.
I used susb tune save as the commmand not susb tune usb
also simple-tune-menu can select either device but I cannot change the parameters of usb1. I get the same error usb1 not active.
device usb works good
Thanks

Subject: [arm-allstar] second node startup problem
following the instructions on page 10 of setting up a second node for raspberry pi, I was able to use susb active usb and then use susb tune usb successfully. then I edited the iax.conf, extensions.conf and rpt.conf files successfully. rpt.conf is still missing the FUNCTION stanza for the second node since the instructions did not add that yet.
I then used astdn.sh and astup.sh to reboot asterisk. next I tried the following but got this error. my primary node 41838 still works but my new node 42087 does not show up in the active node listing. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Connected to Asterisk currently running on KITLINK (pid = 6136)
Verbosity is at least 3
== Refreshing DNS lookups.
KITLINK*CLI> susb active usb1
KITLINK*CLI> susb tune save
Device usb1 currently not active
and the following for reference only. my primary node is called usb and my second node is called usb1
KITLINK*CLI> susb active usb
KITLINK*CLI>
Thanks
