Thanks Doug, I was able to ping each node from one another.
For a goof i changed the internal ip address to a dns address that I use.
Now it is working. Go figure.
28183 = radio at 127.0.0.1/28183,NONE ;900 MHz NODE 28183
40822 = radio at w2ymm1.noip.me:4568/40822,NONE ; UHF NODE 40822
