Tom,

  This may not be your problem but you need to wait at least 10 minutes after boot for connection to work properly. The reason is the update time of the node database. Your node has to propagate the network. This is worse on the first boot if you have been off for a prior period.

If you have waited at least that long and still no go then you may not have good Internet connectivity for some reason. You can test it by ssh'ing into your node, logging in, and at the Linux prompt type - ping allstarlink.org
You should get a response something like this....

 [root at wa3dsp-40961-cm asterisk]# ping allstarlink.org
PING allstarlink.org (67.215.233.179) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from allstarlink.org (67.215.233.179): icmp_seq=1 ttl=51 time=80.9 ms
64 bytes from allstarlink.org (67.215.233.179): icmp_seq=2 ttl=51 time=82.5 ms
64 bytes from allstarlink.org (67.215.233.179): icmp_seq=3 ttl=51 time=80.0 ms

Type cntrl C  to exit.

If you are getting that then maybe you are not registering.... from the Linux prompt type -

asterisk -rvvv

You will then be in the Asterisk client indicated by the CLI prompt. Type iax2 show registry. You should see something like this.

 [root at wa3dsp-40961-cm asterisk]# asterisk -rvvv
Asterisk , Copyright (C) 1999 - 2008 Digium, Inc. and others.

License version 2 and other licenses; you are welcome to redistribute it under
certain conditions. Type 'core show license' for details.
=========================================================================
Connected to Asterisk currently running on wa3dsp-40961-cm (pid = 25153)
Verbosity is at least 3
wa3dsp-40961-cm*CLI> iax2 show registry
Host dnsmgr Username Perceived Refresh State
67.215.233.178:4569   Y       40961       71.58.53.255:4568          60  Registered

The key is the username should be your node number and the state should be registered. If it is not try the command 'iax2 reload' then check it again with 'iax2 show registry'

Type exit to get back to the Linux prompt

wa3dsp-40961-cm*CLI> exit
Executing last minute cleanups
[root at wa3dsp-40961-cm asterisk]#

If it is not registering and you have a good Internet connection check the /etc/asterisk/iax.conf file. Towards the beginning there is a registration line that has your node number and node ID. Make sure they are correct. Recheck your node password at allstarlink.org - thats the 6 digit number. the PW in iax.conf should match. The line looks like this -

register => xxxxx:yyyyyy at register.allstarlink.org

The x's are your node number and the y's the password.

I hope I didn't confuse you to much.

Let me know how you make out.
