[arm-allstar] Power on off

So on the BBB, what is the safe way to power one down to remove the SD card.

I have been using the shutdown command and then removing the power plug.
The remove the micro sd card.  And basically doing the reverse when I'm
ready to install the card.

I've been reading that pulling the power plug could cause voltage spikes.
