[arm-allstar] help please configuring my first allstar node

Niel,

Let's start with this.

What kind of radio are you using?

What pins are you connected to on the DB25 on the URI?

Your basic configuration files for allstar are.
Rpt.conf
Simpleusb.conf (in your case)
Extensions.conf
Iax.conf

You can edit all of those files by changing directories like this.

Cd /etc/asterisk

Then type nano rpt.conf

That will allow you to edit you files. Obviously if you want to look at
simpleusb.conf that would be "nano simpleusb.conf"

In all honesty the first time script on the BBB should have you flying in
no time. My guess is this is more to do with your radio and connection to
the URI.

I didn't know squat about linux a year ago. There are plenty of people here
to help if your pleasant and patient.
