I have found that in most cases you do not need to use 12V for the 6db amp. Try 5V which is available on the 25 pin connector. Look at the DR1 Yaesu Fusion how-to mod I put out on the web page. It uses the 6db amp wired to 5V and gives the pin outs. It is very easy to accomplish on the DMK URI.
If you are using the rigs mic input it is surprising you don't have enough gain.

Looks like 12 volts, a jumper and move a wire and I should be in business.
