The Kenwood TM-D700 specific setting is below. It was important to add 
the "rxondelay" so as to avoid squelch opening when going to RX.
This radio ignores PL tones on receive via data port.

In simpleusb-tune-menu set audio to:
RX set to 200
TX level set to 50


rxondelay=25            ; This will instruct the usbradio driver to 
ignore the COR line
                         ; for a specified number of 20mSec intervals 
following the release of PTT.

carrierfrom=usb         ; no,usb,usbinvert
                         ; no - no carrier detection at all
                         ; usb - from the COR line on the modified USB 
sound fob
                         ; usbinvert - from the inverted COR line on the 
modified USB sound fob
