Sam,

I asked Dave about this and this was his comment....

Yes, I've used USB-to-serial adapters of several varieties to interface with all my rigs. Note that, unlike MS Win, linux has no problems with the "clone" PL2303 chips. I recommend devices manufactured by Kawamall,
like: http://www.ebay.com/itm/160865608528

I hope that helps.

Subject: [arm-allstar] interfacing BBB CI-V serial connections

Hello, group! From what I understand, the most popular way of interfacing app_rpt and an xcat is by way of CI-V. This is done normally with a motherboard's serial port going to an existing serial connection on the xcat itself.
Is there support in the current BBB image for, say, a USB-serial converter? Is there any way to make a serial "CI-V" connection from the BBB to the xcat?
Thanks for reading and 73
