Chris,
Sorry for the delay in answering. I looked at your message and then got off on something else.
I would say any scripts your create unless they are system specific should go in the /etc/asterisk/local directory. The /etc/asterisk directory and anything below it will be included in the backup routine. So your scripts would be saved and it would be easy to move them to another system or a new image. I created the local directory just for that purpose.
I have a weather warning script on my centos acid system but I never tried it on the Black. I am sure it would or could be made to work. I use the Cepstral Diane voice which I bought years ago. Today they charge to much. For some reason I had thought the Google TTS was going away.
If you can put together a howto on getting what you have going that would be great or if you give me the facts I can put something together.

Subject: [arm-allstar] Working on wx scripts for bbb allstar, need sugguests
I am working on porting over one of my weather report scripts that uses Google text to speech (tts) for the BBB Allstar node. I want to do this correctly with keeping the files namespace in mind.
Currently, I am using for the script and sound locations: /var/lib/asterisk/wxrtp_ug /var/lib/sounds/wx/report_ug
I have the script working but I am to install the asterisk-addons-1.4.13 in order to play the mp3 file generated. This worked, but the mp3 volume is a bit on the low side. I was thinking about using SOX to convert from mp3 to ulaw instead. Not sure which direction to go. Any opinions?
Also, is the namespace above is acceptable?
(plus I wanted to test the new list :) )
If interested, the weather script reports the current weather conditions using local Underground wx. It reports:
Weather report for The Landings On The Crow , St Michael . Last Updated on May 29, 9:42 AM CDT,
the wind was blowing at a speed of 5.8 miles per hour from Southwith wind gusts up to 8.1 miles per hour. The temperature was 71.1 degrees with a dewpoint of 24.0 degrees.
The pressure was at 30.08 inches of mercury. The relative humidity was 17 percent.
Cheers,
Chris, w0anm
