Hey guys,

Cant say enough about the great work the BBB team has put into this branch of Allstar Linking. In the course of doing my research, I have found that the Yaesu MH-48 DTMF mic used on the FT8800 and FT8900 series radio is going to be a very good fit with the BBB based nodes. This will allow for a "Local Control" similar to the old 6 wire local control remotes we used to wire up to the old Motorola and GE base stations. If you are running mobile, you could wire a Yaesu Mic to your URI, install the app to your BBB node and have memory channels as well as "on the fly" connections to nodes not in your memory.

The Yaesu Mic is not an analog DTMF mic, this is a digital based multi-function microphone, the radio control head generates the DTMF tones that are sent to the transmitter. By using these two digital control lines and the Matrix I found online, it will be a simple matter to wire the signals into the GPIO headers using the built in A/D converters and wiring in an LCD that talks to the BBB via serial data.

I will update the group as this project develops... looking very promising
