Just to expand on the previous message to Greg here are the pinouts for a simpleusb connection from the DMK URI to the Alinco 144/222/440 series radios with data connectors.

Alinco DB9 Male DMK URI DB25 Male

COS 1 8
RX Audio 4 21
Ground 5 20 (or any ground point)
PTT 7 1
TX Audio 9 22

This should be a shielded cable.

The Alinco COS follows PL. You still need squelch. Experiment with setting it above the default level of 2. A value of 4-7 or possibly more does not significantly lower the sensitivity but greatly reduces the tail.

The BBB simpleusb.conf file on the image is setup correctly for the Alinco series of radios. Pin 8 of the URI corresponds to the carrierfrom=usbinvert parameter. The ctcssfrom should be set to no and invertptt=0.

With rxboost=1 the typical rx level is 750 and tx level is 500 set by simpleusb-tune-menu

If never hurts to put ferrites on both the audio and usb cables. It has solved HF interference problems for me.
