This is NOT an April Fools Joke!

I don't want to give anyone a heart attack but the IRLP beta is finally
here and it is working very well! We will float this as beta for a few
weeks as I am sure there may be minor fixes and changes here and there. The
code has been running for over a week on a busy reflector and appears very
stable. Most of you have already used or are currently using the old IRLP
gateway code. Obviously this is much improved not only because many bugs in
the old code have been fixed but the base platform is hamvoip which in
itself is leaps and bounds ahead of anything out there. With the latest
changes in the Echolink code and this updated IRLP code we think your
experience will be the best it ever has using them in a gateway. That is
not to say there might be a few more things that need fixing but we will be
very responsive in getting that done if needed. The purpose of the beta is
to find and fix anything else that might be a problem.

I am attaching the irlp setup howto which again most of you should be
comfortable with as for the most part it mimics your current setups. Some
things are slightly different to accommodate not doing repetitive writes to
the SD card and adjustments for the Pi environment.

If you are using this on a busy hub/gateway we would recommend using a Pi3
in turbo mode which means you would need to use a heatsink and small fan on
the CPU. You can monitor the CPU temperature using the cpu_status.sh
script. With proper cooling it should remain in the 40-50 degree C region.
The cpu_turbo.sh script sets or resets turbo mode.

The latest Supermon fully supports IRLP but there may be some adjustments
necessary as time goes on. At the moment sub reflectors show no information
and not the information of the primary reflector but that is on the list to
be fixed.

*It is imperative that you thoroughly read and follow the attached setup
pdf!* You must update to the latest hamvoip code - item 1 on the admin menu
and then download and install an additional package. This is all detailed
in the howto.

When running IRLP the server boot times will be longer by about 10-20
seconds. We are working on reducing this but for the most part this should
not be a problem.

Have fun and please post any questions or comments to this list -

Many thanks to Paul, KN2R, and Dave, KB4FXC for their hard work in getting
this going!
