Might it be possible to design a modular software platform that would run on the Raspberry Pi, and be capable of processing audio to/from and control signals to/from an arbitrary number of radios?</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">The end result would be any radio you have configured could be placed wherever you wish in the stereo sound field, and you could effortlessly select which one you wish to connect to your mike. You could also configure cool crosswind repeater setups if desired, all in software,</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">It’s basically just a signal multiplexer, but very modular and configurable. Every time you add a radio, you add a USB dongle - perhaps the DMK Engineering URI? and this passes audio to and from the rig as well as control signals. To the Raspberry Pi, this is just (mono) digital audio. There are software mixer modules that are used for music recording that can “place” a mono signal anywhere in the stereo field, and also do equalization, audio filtering etc. if desired.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">You could also do software “ducking” like when an announcer talks over music and it automatically decreases in volume. For a ham application, a priority emergency frequency could override chit-chat… or entertainment audio in a car or home.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I love this idea! These boards are so<br class="">cheap and draw such little energy it pays to just setup another board. If<br class="">you have another Pi3 try loading Ubuntu mate on it. Free download on the<br class="">Internet.
