Both Prolific and FTDI work fine. <br><br>If you type dmesg after inserting it into ta USB port you should see that it assigned /dev/ttyUSB0 to the adapter assuming you only have one adapter installed. After that echoing through the adapter should work.<br><br>You are running as the stock 'root' user and have not created another user on your system right? I am beginning to think it is in the modem and dialing parameters set up nut I have not got that far yet.
