It requires a server (Acid, BBB, RPi2) running Allstar to function. The voting process uses the function of the RTCM<b> AND</b> the Allstar end to function. There is a channel driver in Allstar which functions with the RTCM. Currently the voting process will not work stand-alone in the Acid PC, BBB, or RPi2 without the RTCM.<br><br>Voting requires synchronization of audio. If you have audio coming from several places via the Internet there is no guarantee that each audio channel would arrive at the same. The voting procedure obviously has to process and switch audio that is synchronized to be seamless. The RTCM time stamps the packets based on accurate GPS timing. The packets are then processed back at the server (Acid, BBB, RPi2) end.</font><br><br><font style="" face="Tahoma,sans-serif">I hope that answers your question. it is possible to use the RPi2 or the BBB for voting and simulcast but when
reading the manuals I don’t see this information. I have asked for clarification
because I really would like to know if there are benefits to doing so over the
RTCM, which of course does voting. I’ll confess that I don’t communicate well
using email. I try but I seem to miss the mark and I hope that you’ll help me

<div>People have stated over and over throughout the thread that the RTCM is the
only Allstar compatible device that votes and simulcasts. So asking if Sam if he
is using a RTCM for simulcasting or not shows that either you aren't reading
people's posts all the way through or you are in the first week of trying to
kick a bad caffeine habit. Please don't feel victimized because people grow sick
of repeating themselves. </div>

<div>The documentation on the RTCMs and the voting mechanics of app_rpt is very
well done, and answers all of your questions. Many newbies have deployed RTCM
systems from design to finish with no help whatsoever from the group, so one
would think that a system administrator would have much less of a problem
grasping the basics.</div>

sites. Doing this would lower the latency. I assume that we could then run a
remote base that could talk up to a site that allow other Allstar nodes into

<p dir="ltr">Consider the RTCM to be an ip phone. It will only talk to itself
without a pbx. Allstar is rhe pbx. </p>
<p dir="ltr">The RTCM is a stupid controller without a connected server </p>
<p dir="ltr">Doesn't matter where or what allstar is running on, as long as one
the sites with the RTCM is located on the same physical switch as the allstar
server. That allows for proper GPS timing between the allstar server and the
master RTCM. In some cases people don't run any radios on this
single RTCM.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I use a bbb located at one of my sites and run a simulcast 900
repeater. Work wonderful </p>
