<div dir="ltr">Hi Robert, <div>The BBB uses "simpleusb" instead of "usbradio" for a few major reasons, one of which being CPU resource efficiency.<br><br>As you have learned, "simpleusb" does not provide software squelch or CTCSS functions, among other things. Myself, and many others feel that hardware squelch and PL decoders work much better.</div><div><br>In a typical "simpleusb" repeater configuration, app_rpt is fed by hardware COR and CTCSS decode signals from the repeater receiver. If you MSR isn't configured to provide those signals, you have the option of building or buying your own squelch board and PL decoder. </div><div><br></div><div>For PL encode, if you can't easily do it with the MSR, you will have to provide another tone source and a resistive mixer to mix it with your TX audio.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Take a look at the Repeater-Builder AP50 here: <a href="http://www.repeater-builder.com/products/ap-50.html">http://www.repeater-builder.com/products/ap-50.html</a></div><div><br></div><div>Hope this helps. </div><div><br></div><div>Sam</div><div>KJ6QFS <br><br></div><div><a href="http://www.repeater-builder.com/products/ap-50.html"><br><br></a></div><div><br></div><div> </div><div><br><br></div><div><br></div><div><br><br></div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Sat, Feb 21, 2015 at 6:09 PM, Robert Newberry <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:N1XBM@amsat.org" target="_blank">N1XBM@amsat.org</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><p dir="ltr">I recently went to a site to install my BBB onto a MSR2000. I made what appears a huge error in my planning. Currently the repeater is controlled by a zetron repeaterman which encodes and decodes my PL. My only experience with allstar prior to this BBB was a ACID OS using USB radio. </p>
<p dir="ltr">So I didn't realize this until I was at the site trying to figure out where my PL tones go. The only thing I can think of is getting hardware to make PL and install it into the repeater. It was decided to use a PC we had on hand and use USB radio. Rather than adding equipment to the repeater for PL.</p>
<p dir="ltr">So my question is if I have a repeater that I want to use a BBB on in the future. What do I need to do? I am not talking about two mobile radios. I'm talking about real repeater stations like mastr ii.</p>
