I use chirp with a programming cable. If you have a Kenwoodd cable like for a THF6 etc. it will work. Chirp can be made to work on windows or a graphic Linux like Ubuntu. Then modify the radio to bring out the COS line like here -

http://crompton.com/hamradio/baofeng888/

Setup simpleusb for carrierfrom=usb restart asterisk, set your levels, and you should be good to go. What ever PL you program into the 888 will activate the COS line when a signal comes in that includes it. You could even use DCS if you like.

Changing PL's or to DCS in the radio has nothing to do with Allstar and nothing would have to be changed in any configuration file.

73 Doug
WA3DSP
http://www.crompton.com/hamradio

> Date: Mon, 9 Feb 2015 23:30:28 +0000
> From: gm4upx@gb7jd.co.uk
> To: arm-allstar@hamvoip.org
> Subject: [arm-allstar] simpleUSB - simple question ??
>
> Head above the wall time again <smile>
>
> Got my mobile node running with the two Baofeng 888's, one for the node
> and one for wandering with ..
>
> Had it running for a couple of days at home on 3G, works fine, next move
> is to install it in the car.
>
> While running it at home I thought, that's smaller, neater, more
> sensitive on rx, and uses less electricity than my converted Cleartone
> that I dragged kicking and screaming from 439Mhz to 434Mhz so why not
> get another Baofeng to use on my regular 70cms node ??
