    Great information John.  I may try this mod later.  My V7 is getting
    old and it has the known problem with the display.  It's getting
    very hard to read but it's ok if you aren't going to change the
    frequency.  So it won't matter if I break it.<br>

    It looks like Kenwood fixed this on the V71.<br>

                        I think the 6 pin din connector is the same on
                        all radios that have it.  I also have a Kenwood
                        TM-V7.  Look at my post from earlier.  On this
                        radio the audio follows the squelch not the
                        CTCSS.  If the radio makes a transition from
                        squelched to un-squelched it will activate
                        transmit on the node and it will kerchunk the
                        system.  I have to leave my squelch turned up
                        pretty high so it doesn't constantly key up the
                        node. <br>
