As far as I know a loop is not possible. The asterisk process is watching the list of all connected nodes and will reject a connection from another node that has any existing connected node also connected.
I could be wrong but that has been my assumption to date.

Subject: [arm-allstar] Node connections question, hoping someone can help
Hey guys. Hoping someone can help with this 1. We've got a network of
repeaters on allstar. Each 1 of them connects to a hub. We are trying to
prevent users from connecting to other places. So, let's say repeater A
connects to the central hub. I would like to have it so in order to
connect to someone else, they either have to disconnect, or I can limit the
amount of connections you can make. Is this possible?
We're trying to avoid a loop situation, and keep the system in good shape.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Jed
