"BTECH is thrilled to announce the launch of the second generation UV-25X2 and UV-25X4 mini mobile radios, specifically designed for amateur radio operators

seeking top-tier performance, cutting-edge features, and unparalleled versatility in a compact package. Get ready to elevate your communication experience

with these powerful devices that redefine the standard for mini mobile radios."

The press release also highlights audio performance, so perhaps they have finally improved things there. It says in part:

"1. Unparalleled Audio Quality and Flexibility: The upgraded audio input/output capabilities ensure crystal-clear sound, while the RJ45 microphone port

and the included K1 audio adapter open up a world of aftermarket audio accessories for you to explore.

2. Innovative Audio I/O Features: Harness the power of the UV-25X2 and UV-25X4’s audio I/O capabilities by pairing them with a cable like the

APRS-K1.

Effortlessly transmit and receive APRS and packet data, capture location data, or even send messages directly from your radio through the RJ45 jack. The

possibilities are truly endless!"

Wow! "Truly endless possibilities"!

It sounds like these will make for decent node radios though, perhaps on par with Alinco. 😊

The interesting bit for me is the price.

$124.89 for the dual-band version, and only

$134.89 for the addition of 220 mHz. I wonder if it puts out full power on that band as well? If so, $10 for 220 is a great way to get more people onto that band! They might opt for the extra $10, thinking “I don’t really need it but why not?”
