I think all of us would wish him many more happy years but all of us
have an expiration date.  In that case, source code that becomes, if not
critical, important to amateur radio should, at a minimum, have a
contingency for release under a free or permissive license upon the
author's passing.  Preferably that would be done well beforehand so
other interested parties can become familiar with the source code with
the author's guidance.
