Funny, I just send David an email about this last night. To anyone else who needs help, specifically you must run this command when runningthe other echo commands, prior to restarting sshd:

echo "XAuthLocation /usr/bin/xauth" >> /etc/ssh/sshd_config

Thanks,
Derek

David,

I tried mobaxterm (or whatever it’s called), putty, and the Linux terminal
with no luck.

However, playing around with it last night I noticed you made a change to
the pdf related to the xauth file location.

After adding the xauth location to the sshd config file, the rpi3 was
allowing the x11 display to be forwarded to my laptop.
