Greetings to the list. I need an elmer.
By way of reference, I retired about 10 years ago after owning and
operating a Land Mobile Radio Shop in Temple, Texas for 30 years.
(Before that RCC MobilePhone and Paging and some telephone company
Microwave - PCM MUX - ITT T324s and a little optical fiber -
transmission stuff) We had a number of conventional repeaters, 460 Mhz
Trunked using Johnson LTR and 3 sites of 800 Mhz SMR Trunked. In my
spare time I maintained a 19 channel, 3 site, simulcast Public Safety
EDACS trunked radio system.
After about 10 years away from ham radio or any kind of radio - the
highest tech stuff was a cattle prod - cattle ranching and prison
ministry - I got bit by the DMR bug - bought an MMDVM / STM 32 board and
dug out an ancient Kenwood TKR820 desktop. 1 Hour later Gatesville
Texas had their first Brandmeister Network DMR Repeater. A couple of GE
M3's and a Johnson VX later I am playing with 6 DMR repeaters around
here. Mostly no problems - one dog... (Internet again)...
I tried setting up a HAMVOIP system on a Pi3B using my home internet
connection. GE Phoenix radio, Masters DRA65, Pi3 Image, etc Simple USB
- no problem (I still have a couple of service monitors that work, so
setup / COS / CTCSS, etc - really neat with the V function on the simple
USB - well thought out).. It repeats - Shows up on the Allstarlink.org
- up time and keying, etc. But I cannot get it to connect to another
node. I am missing something. Don't know if I need to do port stuff
(TP-Link AX1500 Router - the pi is on 192.168.0.254 and I have the MAC
on the Pi tied to this IP) SSH port 222 OK - Login OK - WinSCP OK -
file access OK... (I have A ZeroTier network working on the DMR
repeaters - no problems)...
I cannot connect to another node nor can I key up or connect from the
Echolink client to the Allstar Node (Echolink should be enabled and
tries to connect - is in the list but no go).
I am totally confused with internet stuff (maybe covid 19 fog from Feb
12 this year - 14 Days ICU - 20% chance... Had LJS Fried Fish the 29th
and brought in a hay crop in July - right before the blood poisoning -
that I am still battling)...
I would be very grateful to find someone who has first hand - been there
done that experience who could talk me thru this set up. Lots of
patience required - Steve NU5D - Off list bosshard at gmail.com
