I have an idea and wasn't sure how to ask for help, I am not a linux GURU
but I sure am having fun working with everyone. I wanted to share this idea
so it gets the maximum coverage, so here It is, and I appreciate your
opinions.
I modified playnews to suit my needs for a 6 repeater linked system with
appropriate just under 10 minute time outs for ID's, it really sounds good,
but it would time out anyone connecting if they didn't set their timers. I
want to be able to DTMF the start time so as not to have to get into
rpt.conf and modify the start time in the cmd line that initiates the play.
I don't use the dtmf commands *1, *2, *3 because if I am going to connect I
don't want the Internet to disconnect me permanently, and sit there
wondering why my friends haven't replied yet. So I always use *71, *72, *73
commands. That makes the *1, *2, *3 available for this effort. I would like
*1???? to mean play ARN at the ???? time, 24hour format. The *2???? to play
ARRL, *3 to stop play and flush tmp files, The play times are flexible,
maybe 24hr isn't the way to go, you tell me. Sometimes we like to play at
9pm, 8pm, 7pm, noon/lunch time, hey this is a fun forum, let's have your
feedback please.
Thank You
