Thank You for the info, Zero Tier works really well and is easy to set up.
Just a FYI the version on my laptop is 1.8.3 and I updated the raspberry
before starting and it shows as 1.8.2
I was used to connecting to the static IP of the raspberry via the VPN
Router so it took me a few minutes to realize the IP to use for putty and
WinSCP is the new IP shown in Zero Tier connection.
