Hello,

I have had success using the Huawei E397u-53 USB cellular dongle. These are available as new old stock on Amazon and eBay.

These dongles were branded for Cricket Wireless, but are more successfully used the USA with a T-Mobile SIM card and T-Mobile's $10 per-month 4G LTE prepaid data plan.

My installation notes specific to the E397u-53 model dongle can be found at https://chiarappa110638950.files.wordpress.com/2020/10/installing-huawei-ppp-usb-modem-dongle-on-raspberry-pi-public.pdf

Note: Your mileage and success may vary with other model dongles from Huawei and/or other manufacturers.

Best of luck.

Anyone have any suggestions for a USB 4G data dongle for a RPi Allstar node? ?

The Sierra Wireless GL7500 looks promising, but pricey.

Thanks,
