Hi Gervais,
The number 1 issue I've seen with 888 radios is that many are off
frequency. Sometimes out of the box, new, other times after months of use.
There is a single trimmer capacitor in these radios that adjusts
everything---all the radio's important clocks seem based on this single
adjustment. So, check your radio's transmit frequency with some
calibrated tool and adjust, if needed. I've adjusted many 888's ---well
over a dozen.
For $10 each, they're pretty impressive little radios!
