Hello list,
I am currently setting up a pair of RaspPi-3B+'s with the DFM Technology
CM119 Hats for use as the two end points of a 10 Meter FM repeater. The
TX and RX sites are separated by several kilometers to avoid the need
for a monster duplexer. Hamvoip is up to date.
The two RaspPi's are connected via an OpenVPN server running on a
central pfSense firewall dedicated to the task. All network connections
are wired to avoid any potential issues caused by WiFi. High-speed
300Mbit Internet works well.
So .... I have configured (so far):
- Full remote access to both Pi's using the VPN on a Mac and on my iPad
over LTE. The menus and bash shells work with no issues at all.
- The firewall is configured to pass TCP ports 222 and 4569-4570, plus
ICMP echo/reply on VPN and LAN. Do I need others ??
- RX and TX RaspPi IP addresses are within the same VPN subnet, DNS
lookup and ping by hostname works.
- The 'node_lookup_method' is set to dns for both nodes.
- RX and TX private node numbers are set.
- Just in case, I set the RX and TX iax ports to different values even
though they are on different IP addresses. Windows access is not
required. No phone patch.
- To summarize ...
Repeater RX Site: Repeater TX Site:
Hostname 10mpi3rx Hostname 10pi3tx
IP 172.x.y.74 IP 172.x.y.78
Node# 1800 Node# 1900
iax Port 4569 iax Port 4570
duplex=2 duplex=2
That seemed like pretty obvious stuff to me, but then it got murky ...
the documentation isn't all that intuitive.
For the files in the /etc/asterisk directory, what other settings do I
need to configure in order to have the two nodes talking with each
other? I have searched around the forums but nothing straightforward
has appeared. I'm particularly interested in the various .conf files,
which I would prefer to edit manually so that I understand Asterisk a
bit better.
Does anyone have a list of specific Repeater node-to-node configuration
settings in the various config files? That would be greatly
appreciated. It looks like I need to edit the extensions.conf file as
well as iax and rpt. Sorry for being a bit dense ... it's a steep
learning curve.
For what it's worth, I have many years experience with Linux admin, so
dealing with command line and manual configs is preferred.
Many thanks in advance!
