[arm-allstar] not connecting to certain nodes - node table database file

Hi David,

I doubt the problem is at your end. The HamVoIP DNS system has
time-to-live (TTL) values set very short, so nothing gets cached for very
long, in fact no more than a couple minutes.

Under HamVoIP, you can use the dns-query tool to confirm what the latest
node info is. For example, here are lookups from my system for the 2 nodes
in question. Is this right? Does your system show the same results?

[root at RPi4B-dev ~]# dns-query 51046
+OK|radio at 73.12.188.165:4569/51046,73.12.188.165

[root at RPi4B-dev ~]# dns-query 2585
+OK|radio at 198.211.100.73:4569/2585,198.211.100.73

I expect that the problem is on node 2585. My suspicion is that it uses
the older downloaded file lookup method and 2285 doesn't have the latest
node data. This problem is getting reported regularly these days,
unfortunately, sometimes taking an extended amount of time before
it resolves itself. For example, I assisted in moving some nodes a couple
weeks ago, where an IP address change occurred. Some users couldn't
reconnect for a whole day!! These users were all downloading the
nodelist file, not using DNS lookup.

Perhaps I need to flush my DNS cache?  Does HAMVOIP on the Pie do local DNS caching?

My node number is 51046
I cannot connect to 2585
This happened approximately a month ago.  Upgrading Hamvoip solved the problem.  Im thinking DNS or some sort of cache gets cleared out when the upgrade happens.
My node travels between two different internet connections.  Im thinking perhaps something gets corrupted or confused.

Thanks for your help.

astdb has nothing to do with connections to other nodes. It is simply a
database to give additional information about the node NOT routing
information. Routing information is via DNS.
