Perhaps it's an RF issue? I have noticed that excessive RF in the area of
the Pi/FOB can cause the FOB to shut itself off (heartbeat light goes out
and USB communication with the pi stops). It rarely if ever happens at my
home QTH now that I have moved my transmitters away from Pi and FOBs. At
our repeater sites we use ferrite on the USB cable, keep them as short as
possible, and try to get maximum separation between the TX equipment and
the Pi/FOB. For future builds we are looking into putting everything inside
a 19 inch rack drawer to get better shielding. Good luck and 73!
