Hi David,
Yes, I've used several different radios with hamlib and it works well.
I'm sure you realize that the TM-V7A is a 20+ year old radio and aren't
readily available for acquisition by a new user. I've got a couple TM-G707A
radios which I use with hamlib, using the adapter interface that Jim Dixon
designed years ago. Here is a link showing info about this interface:

The TM-G707A radios are not readily found, either, of course.
My recommendation would be to be prepared to do some research and
experimenation....Or, get a currently available radio that has advertised
support.
