This is very strange since both calls work the same way and also you said
one method works and the other does not. This is a script that can be
called manually. Try going to the Linux prompt and typing:

saytime.pl zip node    -  where zip is optional for weather and node is the
node number to be played to.

See what is returned. If this is still not working it sounds like a file
might be corrupted in some way.
