Objet : [arm-allstar] Allstar Node UV-82 2N7000 COS Failure

This is a message for general interest. My node is UV-82, DMK URI and RPI3.
Last night we had a serious lightening event very near my house where the node is located. The node was connected to an outdoor VHF/UHF antenna. It was powered by a 12 volt wallwart connected to two DC/DC converters one for the radio, the other for the RPI3.
Afterwards the node no longer worked properly. The wallwart was dead (no voltage) and after connecting the node to another 12 volt source I found that COS was stuck on. I replaced the 2N7000 FET in the COS line and it corrected the problem.
Prior to this the node had been running for a couple years trouble free. So it seems the lightening event took out the 2N7000. I do have the 10K resistor installed. I don't know if it was an issue coming through the antenna or through the power line, but I suspect it may have been power line related since the wallwart failed.
