I will add to this that in many cases you do not need the local routing
between servers at all if things are setup properly. See if it works at
home without the between server local routing. If your router has hairpin
loopback capability it should work fine without the local routing in
rot.conf. Most modern routers support this. The caveat is that each
Allstar server on your LAN has to be on a different iax port which they
should be anyway and each port needs to be forwarded to its LAN IP address
in your router.
When any of your local nodes try to connect they first look for a route in
the [nodes] stanza of rpt.conf. Lacking that they do a DNS lookup and would
find your public IP address. hairpin loopback means your router recognizes
its own public IP address on the LAN side and realizes that data goes to
its LAN side but It needs to know the unique port in order to know where
the data goes. It gets that from the port forwarding data your place in the
router telling it what LAN ip address to send to.
