[arm-allstar] IMPORTANT- Allstar Connection problems

The Allstar registration system is basically broken at this point in many
cases either not issuing any information or the wrong information. This is
a random problem and some may not be experiencing any problems while others
are. It tends to show up more for those who are not registered 24/7. If you
are using a hamvoip V1.5 system you have DNS lookup of all nodes BUT
currently that information comes from the Allstar registration servers
UNLESS you are registering with hamvoip. Unfortunately since the Allstar
information could be bogus if we don't have hamvoip registration
information that is all we have to use and it would taint our DNS node
lookup. Many of you are currently registering with hamvoip but those who
are not have the potential of random connection problems especially if you
are not running 24/7.

We are working towards total hamvoip registration but at the moment that is
not the case. To correct the problem you need to manually enter
registration information that we supply AT YOUR REQUEST.

This is not going to get better only worse as the Allstar numbers grow,
Switching to a hamvoip registration will completely fix the problem for
users that are hamvoip nodes connecting to other hamvoip nodes which at
this point is the predominant case.

If you are having a problem and need a hamvoip registration send your
request to kb4fxc at inttek.net and include your node number. This is ONLY
for hamvoip V1.5 users.

Once you get a registration it will look like this - register=40000#
4569:lN4PoBrLHf014e at register.hamvoip.org

with your correct node and port. This is entered in your
/etc/asterisk/iax.conf file in addition to the one already there. I suggest
you cut and paste the line to avoid errors. Once you have entered it and
restarted asterisk you can use check_reg.sh to see if you are correctly
registered with hamvoip. If not recheck your entry.

Sorry for the inconvenience but this is beyond our control until we get
everyone switched over to a hamvoip registration.
