Clifford, do you mean that in DVSwitch, when it connects to your node, the
voice says "Node 1 9 9 8" ?

If this is hamvoip, the following is how i got rid of the phantom 1998.
Replaced it with my node number:

... in today's struggles (lol) i found where the phantom announcement of
1998 is coming from.

In /etc/asterisk, open extensions.conf with nano. Do a ctrl-W to search on
the string Playback.

You'll see some lines beginning:  exten =>
12345,n,Playback,digits/1

and going down it'll have your 1 9 9 8

(where 12345 is your node #).   Just put your node number, one digit per
line, after the /           and you'll need to add another line going down.

This has worked on my two nodes. The hamvoip install scripts don't do
everything, in my newbie opinion. That's okay because it's making me learn
how to modify the config files.
