George,
This will soon be automatic but if you have a manual registration line or
for anyone who gets one here is the instructions. The line looks similar to
this but with your node number and key -
register=xxxxx#4569:QN7uoBKLJR067e at register.hamvoip.org
Where xxxxx is your node number. The port shown here after the # sign is
4569. This should match your node number for the server designated by the
bindport= in iax.conf. If it differs from 4569 change it to the port you
are using. The Hamvoip registration server does not require that a port be
set elsewhere like Allstar.
Insert the new registration line in iax.conf either before or after the
current Allstar line. Leave both lines in there. You will be dual
registered with Hamvoip taking precedence.
If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask.
For those using legacy or non hamvoip v1.5 software like micro-nodes, ASL,
etc. we will soon be offering a script that those users can implement to
derive node lookup from the hamvoip registration server. If they register
with Hamvoip and do node lookup from Hamvoip their registration and
connection problems that have been happening at an increasing rate will go
away.
