Hi Chris,

No, the rxnotch setting is for a notch filter. For this filter to be
effective, it must be relatively narrow in frequency range.

What you're describing is a high-pass filter: every frequency below a 
cut-off point is significantly attenuated. Simpleusb currently has two 
high-pass filters. The first is the plfilter setting (option H in 
simpleusb-tune-menu) and the second is simply the pre-emphasis setting 
(option F).

More filters selections are coming in the new chan_iopipe driver, 
including allowing user-defined filters.

What type of noise are you trying to reduce?
