I agree with Doug, it is supposed to a bare minimum alert system - to prod you to go look at other sources...  Making the repeater become a "chatty kathy" would get tiresome for some users...
However, I sort of agree with you though, to a point, I have wished and dreamed of a simple zip code based "summary weather report" for the next 24 hours that could be called up by a touch tone command...  I am not a programmer and I have no idea if such a thing is even possible.  But a guy can dream, right?

But in this scenario - out on the local lake, sitting in a boat, it would be nice to be able to bring up a "summary weather report" via touch tones between casts and hauling "that big one" into the boat...  I think that would be downright handy!
However, in reality, I could just do the same thing on my android phone in a few minutes in between casts...  And it would be heck of a lot better and more detailed than anything someone could make our repeaters do with voice from text.

But AutoSky does do a good job of being the "alert system" to prod me to go look at my smart phone and look at weather underground...  And we have been grateful for it.  It is a valued part of our repeater systems.

 OK well yes I am hearing some new weather updates, we are having a storm this evening and I am getting an update for severe weather. Pretty cool but with such a lovely voice it would be nice to hear autosky talk some more.
