[arm-allstar] SSID Broadcasting for Wi-Fi (Required ?)

Good afternoon Doug,

I thank you for your response. I will try it first thing tomorrow morning without broadcasting my SSID.

When I set up my .wifi files I used the hamviop software to create the .conf files. With each one created separately I copied them to create the .wifi files. I then created the script and updated rpt.conf. I did all this while connected with the ethernet. Do I need to disable the ethernet. I do not want to jump to any conclusions yet as I have not retried while not broadcasting again.

I am also finding that it takes a long time to connect to anything once the server is running. I have read about the 10 minute IP update time. Would a DDNS like no-ip as I have read about here before fix this?

Lastly, I am finding that transmissions within the vehicle are broken or cut short. Almost like a desense issue. This is happening with both my mobile and an HT. A fellow ham and myself were experimenting on our lunch break and we found that if he walks away from the vehicle with the ht it works better. Has anyone else had this? Is this truly a desense issue or is it RF interfering with the mobile data signal?

Is that why I see trunk mounted mobile setups?

Day one of mobile allstar use so please bear with me...

Thanks again,

Travis E. French - K2PCB

Travis,

I do not believe the SSID needs to be transmitted in order to connect. You
obviously need to know what it is and once it is setup in the file it
should connect regardless of whether it is being displayed. Users often
turn off the SSID transmission to be more obscure.

Also if you have multiple wlan SSID's in the file and they are active and
available there is no guarantee in what order they will be connected. So if
you have home wifi and the hotspot on and your are within range of both you
could get either. Also never have wifi and wired active at the same time.
If you want to use wired go into the menu and turn off wifi.
