Maarten,

Assuming you are using a 1.5 version file you can update at any time. The
1.5 version was released in January 2017. Your version information is
displayed when you login to your server. Updates are cumulative and doing
an update will get you all the updates since the last time it was updated.
You update in the ADMIN menu item 1 via the Internet. If you are using an
older version then you would have to re-image from the web page. What
version are you running? The 1.5 version runs on the RPI2/3 and the
download version runs on the RPi3B+.

You mentioned auto-update. There is no auto-update per-say. Updates in 1.5
are started manually by the user using the admin menu. Also DNS at the
moment is BETA. It is part of the code but you have to turn it on. In the
very near future this will change and it will be the primary node lookup
method for all. However there have been many other significant updates
since last fall including many Echolink fixes, IRLP and a host of other
additions and fixes.
