Mike,
The click and beep are the courtesy tone! That is normal. It remonds you
to wait until after the tone to transmit. Same as on a repeater. The hungup
statement I agree is not very intuitive but it basically means a station
stopped transmitting. It is normal to see.
My hub is 27225 if you want to connect. Put a call out and someone should
answer.
