Hi Elliot,
Yes, a 48KHz sample rate makes analog filtering easy, if any is
realistically needed at all.
I'll post a graphic of the old filter curves, I generated one sometime
back. The biggest area of improvement I've seen with the new filter is
when the RX signals are down in the noise. Now, the noise spectrum is very
clean sounding (to my ear, at least). Previously, there were hints of
aliasing artifacts (again, to my ear).
Listening to noisy signals on local repeaters is what got this all
started. Various local repeater users have commented about the
improvement, too.
