Randy,
You're probably looking for the feature called "parrot mode" in AllStar.
The use this capability, you need to add some command mappings in your
rpt.conf file, [functions] stanza.
Something like:
[functions12345]
841=cop,21 ; parrot mode (store and forward repeat) enable
840=cop,22 ; parrot mode disable

Also, note that a record/playback capability is available in the
simpleusb-tune-menu program (option 'c') to aid in node setup.

controllers describes this capability:
User DVR Recording
You can program a Command Macro to allow users to record themselves in
order to check how well theyâre âgetting into the repeaterâ. This Macro
Function will record, playback and then erase the DVR Track (this function
uses DVR Track 19).
