I am having issues with several nodes connecting if I do a restart, shut
down, or reboot. It will take upwards of 60 minutes if not longer before I
can connect to any ASL node whether on my LAN or elsewhere. I have all the
required entries in rpt.conf. Any suggestions?

Kevin,

In order to diagnose your problem we need to know if your node is
registering upon reboot or restart.  The check_reg.sh
script will tell you if you are registered. The second problem and probably
your issue is downloading the node list. There have been many reported
issues with this lately. This is not a hamvoip issue but there is a fix and
that is to use the DNS node lookup method which is part of your hamvoip
package. I will send you the howto on setting it up. It is very simple to
do.

Doug,
Is there an estimated time for the DNS node lookup release?  I assume
when it is released, doing the Admin option 1 will download it.

Thanks again to all for the fantastic support and work !!

Jim,

Soon,  It is currently in alpha testing. If you are having problems with
node lookups you could implement the beta DNS now as it is part of the
current image. Implementing it will not negate the final version which will
be a normal item 1 update. If you don't have the info on implementing it I
could send it to you.

I have a hub node setup that is radioless. On the same node I have 3
RIMs for connecting to other controllers etc.

Are all the audio levels supposed to be defined in simpleusb_tune_usb.conf ?
Is this file "included" by another file?

Jay,

If the RIM's are not being used by Allstar - not defined as simpleusb in
the rxchannel= statement in rpt.conf then Allstar has no knowledge of them
and simpleusb-tune-menu will not recognize them. If you are using them for
another application outside of Asterisk/Allstar then you owuld have to use
an external or system program to set levels like alsamixer.

simpleusb.conf is configured through running simplusb-tune-menu and
specifying the adapter to use if there is more than one but the adapter
will not be active unless it is defined in rpt.conf.

Thanks for the quick follow up Doug,
I believe you sent me the beta information via email a few weeks ago, but I
have not had a big issue, so I have been waiting
for the full release.  I just wanted to get an idea on the timing.
Thanks again,
Jim
