Luc,
There is a backup howto on the hamvoip web site that describes what you
should do. Here are the key points -
At the admin menu select item 9 start bash shell. You will then get the
Linux prompt.
Type file-backup.sh
You will then get some text describing the script. Type Y to continue
You then have a choice of backing up to a file (option f) or a USB stick
(option u). If you do not have a USB stick plugged in
your only choice is file.
When you select either file or USB the backup is immediately made and there
is an explanation as to what it did. For the file backup you then need to
copy or move that backup tar file to another location using SCP or WINSCP.
If you have a USB stick plugged into the Pi the back can be done to it and
yo can save multiple backups which are date stamped. In this case there is
no need to copy the file as it is safe on the usb stick.
That is all there is to it.
Also as I previously mentioned backups are really not necessary unless you
have changed a great deal on the SD card.
If you want to make a complete backup of the SD card you will need to go to
the system you want to backup, shhutdown the system, remove the SD card,
and copy it into another computer. Then you will have a complete backup
copy that you could swap in in the event of an SD card problem.
Also I have been doing this for five years and used scores of SD cards, all
sandisk ultra and I have never had one go bad.
