Hi John,

Okay about usbradio, it does work on the RPi3 running HamVoIP V1.5. My 
comments about usbradio were from my experiences with it since about 2009, 
when I first started using it seriously on an ACID based system.

BTW, I'll mention that we've got numerous extensions to simpleusb in the 
HamVoIP which might help you. One of these extensions adds an RX audio 
delay, to eliminate squelch tails (see: rxaudiodelay parameter for 
simpleusb.conf).

equipment I had on hand in order to switch to Raspberry Pi. Each time, 
something would be wrong, usually squelch tail issues.

reached out to a Ham I knew that is better than I on the configuration 
files,    and he was able to get USB radio working on my Crompton Pi 1.5

I dialed in the squelch and threshold settings for PL level like I had 
with the previous set up, and it's been working perfectly. For me and my 
installation, DSP works so much better than COR coming out of my radio. 
Also USB radio tune seems to work just fine, but of course I have to 
enter it manually from the Linux prompt.   
  
In no way does this mean I disagree with the statements about simple USB 
being more reliable are sounding better than DSP based scenarios. I'm 
told ( admittedly not having listened to it myself) it sounds great.
  
Doug, I would be happy for you to listen to see if you can tell just by 
listening that I am running DSP. My repeater is connected to the WIN
